Staying safe

Money

• Never send or lend money, gifts, gift cards or crypto to someone you’ve met online, however the request is explained (a medical emergency, customs fees, a stuck parcel).
• Never share bank details, card numbers, one-time codes or passwords.
• Anyone who asks for money should be reported. It is always a scam.

Getting to know someone

• Keep talking on Godly Matrimony until you trust them. You don’t need to share your phone number to chat or call.
• Be wary of someone who won’t talk on a call, avoids meeting, or pushes you to move fast.
• Involve your family and your church early. Their wisdom is a gift.

Meeting in person

• Meet in a public place, such as a church, a café or a family home you both know.
• Tell a family member where you’re going and when you’ll be back.
• Arrange your own travel.
